Smart IPTV: MAC address setup on Samsung and LG
Smart IPTV is one of the oldest players for Samsung and LG televisions. You never type a username into it: the television shows a MAC address, you upload your playlist against that address on the developer's website, and the app picks it up. It has no channels of its own.
What is Smart IPTV?
A minimal playlist player for Tizen and webOS televisions. There is almost no interface to learn, which is its appeal — and almost nothing to configure, which is its limitation. It stores no content and sells none.
Do I need a subscription to use Smart IPTV?
Yes. Without a playlist uploaded against your MAC address, the app shows an empty list. We provide an M3U URL that works with it.
Is Smart IPTV free?
There is a short free trial per device, after which the developer charges a one-time activation fee for that MAC address. The fee is theirs, not ours, we receive nothing from it, and we cannot refund it. It is charged once per television, not per month.
Supported devices
Samsung televisions running Tizen and LG televisions running webOS. It is not available for Firestick, Android boxes or iOS — for those, use IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate with the same subscription.
- Smart TV
Where to download it
From your television's own app store only — the Samsung TV Store or the LG Content Store. There is no Firestick version, so there is no Downloader code for this app.
Official stores
- Samsung TV Store
- LG Content Store
This app charges its own activation fee, set by its developer. It is separate from your subscription with us and we receive no part of it.
How to set up Smart IPTV
How to set up Smart IPTV
You will need the M3U URL we sent you and a phone or computer. The television only displays the MAC address; everything else happens in a browser.
Samsung and LG televisions
- 1Install Smart IPTV from your television's app store and open it.
- 2Write down the MAC address shown on the welcome screen.
- 3On a phone or computer, open the developer's playlist upload page.
- 4Enter the MAC address and paste the M3U URL we sent you, then send it.
- 5Close the app fully on the television and reopen it. Your channels load.
If you change your playlist later
Upload the new URL against the same MAC address and restart the app — you do not pay the activation fee again for the same television. If you replace the television, the new set has a different MAC address and counts as a new device.
Troubleshooting
The list is still empty after uploading
Close the app completely rather than returning to the home screen, then reopen it. The playlist is only read at startup. If it is still empty, check the MAC address was typed exactly, including colons.
It says the trial has expired
That is the developer's activation fee for that television. It is separate from your subscription with us. If you would rather not pay it, HotPlayer and IPTV Smarters Pro are alternatives on the same TV.
Channels load but the names are wrong or unsorted
That is how the playlist was generated rather than a fault in the app. Message us and we will reissue your M3U URL.
Frequently asked questions
Are you Smart IPTV, or affiliated with it?
No. Smart IPTV is made by a separate developer we have no connection to, and their trademarks are theirs. We provide a subscription that works in their app.
Why does it want my MAC address?
The app has no login, so it uses the television's MAC address to know which playlist belongs to it. Share it only with your provider and the app's own site.
Can I use the same subscription on my phone too?
Yes, with a different app such as IPTV Smarters Pro, up to the number of devices on your plan.
